Self-hosting has taken off. We recently crossed 3k GitHub stars (please star if you haven’t already), and it’s inspired us to make the Convex plans more transparent and powerful.
So let’s go through everything we just launched:
Starter plan seat limit increase from 2 → 6
From college hackathons to friends exploring ideas, we see more interest in people trying Convex together. You can now have up to 6 people on a Convex team for free on our Starter plan. Come back and pay when you’ve built something that's getting a lot of traffic. Until then, go forth and make cool stuff.
Spend limits
It’s finally here! If you’re a pro customer, you can now go to your team settings and set a warning or a disable limit on how much money you want to spend on Convex. Though this doesn’t happen often, people are always looking for extra peace of mind when starting their projects on Convex.

Convex Insights, now free
We launched Convex insights for our pro customers in December. It has already helped people find and fix performance issues. We decided this tool was too helpful to be hidden behind a paywall, so it’s now available to all users. We want all apps to be fast and performant on Convex.

Pricing estimator
If you’re looking to estimate the cost of your projects, a calculator on the pricing page can now help you determine the price of specific usage patterns.
Some non-money stuff that also came out recently:
- Last week, we moved Text Search, File Storage, Pagination, and Optimistic Updates out of beta. These features have been in active use and stable since the Convex 1.0 launch, and we want you to use them confidently.
- Convex now has an MCP Server. The article walks you through the details if you still don’t know what that means.
- We launched an integration with Tempo to build AI-generated apps using Convex. If you’re interested in doing something similar, check out our AI Platforms page and reach out to us.
