A few months ago, Jamie wrote this post, announcing that Chef was released to open source, Convex joined the Open Source Pledge, and that Convex sponsored a bunch of open source projects. Maybe unsurprisingly, we have continued to double down on our support for open source. Over the course of Convex's lifespan, we have slowly open sourced more and more parts of our product in the belief that people should be able to use our platform to self-host their infrastructure. Convex offers a fundamentally different path to developing your app, and we always want this path to exist for others that prefer to manage their own hardware.

Today, we are officially launching a program for open source projects to apply for Convex credits and we now have a landing page to feature all the projects we are currently sponsoring (and ones we've sponsored in the past). We are always open to suggestions for projects to sponsor, and we are especially likely to sponsor projects that Convex is dependent on for any reason.

If you are an open source project that has held off on building with Convex because of potentially paying for a lot of usage, this would be a great time to check out this program. If the FAQ at the bottom of the page doesn't answer all of your questions, feel free to ping me or Wayne in the Discord to clarify anything.
